Emergency Care

Our team of veterinarians and technicians have decades of experience in emergency medicine, critical care, and emergency surgery. We are available any hour of the day or night.

Our hospital is open 24 hours a day/7 days per week. We accept urgently ill canine & feline patients, referral patients from other area veterinary hospitals and patients from our own general practice.

With the unpredictability of emergencies, there may be several patients arriving at our hospital at the same time. Upon arrival, all patients are evaluated to determine the critical needs of their illness. When needed, patients may be hospitalized and cared for by our dedicated emergency & critical care staff.

After your pet has been treated, we contact your primary care or referral veterinarian to keep them updated on your pet’s illness and treatment plan.

Examples of common conditions requiring emergent evaluation by a veterinarian including, but not limited to:

  • Trouble breathing
  • Sudden collapse or difficulty walking
  • Distension or bloating of the abdomen
  • Seizures
  • Vomiting & diarrhea
  • Allergic reactions
  • Any unusual behavior

Remember, you know your pet the best. If you believe that your pet is in need of emergency treatment, do not hesitate to give us a call. The Vet Specs family is here for you 24/7 including weekends and holidays.

For possible or confirmed exposure to poison or human medications or ingestion of certain substances, we suggest calling the Animal Poison Control Center immediately at 1 (888) 426-4435 to determine whether treatment is necessary.
